Smart Stack & Developer Updates
Depending on the user’s activity or the time of day, a new widget stack dubbed Smart Stack automatically adjusts to the user’s context and shows pertinent information. Whether it’s boarding passes or weather updates, Smart Stack makes sure consumers have access to the most important information. The new design language can be used by developers to enhance their apps, resulting in better functionality and appearance. These modifications have already been incorporated by well-known apps including Streaks, the NBA app, and Waterllama, providing improved user experiences.
Control Centre & Watch Faces
The Control Centre, which can be accessed by simply pressing a side button, gives rapid access to crucial features even when using other programmes. Users can quickly switch between recently used programmes for seamless multitasking by double-clicking the Digital Crown. Snoopy and Palette, two new watch faces included in watchOS 10, provide the Apple Watch with more creative and entertaining looks. Palette uses changing colours to show the time, while Snoopy includes interactive components dependent on user activity and the weather, giving the user’s choice of the watch face a playful touch.
Health & Sports Updates
Improved data, perspectives, and experiences will be advantageous to cyclists. For a more complete riding experience, watchOS 10 supports automatic workout synchronisation between Apple Watch and iPhone, optimised workout views on the iPhone, and support for Bluetooth-enabled cycling equipment. The new features in watchOS 10 for outdoor enthusiasts will improve hiking experiences. For cellular connections and emergency calls, the Compass app generates waypoints, while Apple Maps offers elevation views, topographic maps, and trail search functionality. In watchOS 10, there are resources for fostering mental health. While the Health app offers insights into elements influencing mental health, the Mindfulness app permits discrete monitoring of feelings and moods. Assessments for anxiety and depression might also be helpful to users. By tracking how much time is spent in daylight, Apple Watch now assists users in giving their eye health priority. The Screen Distance function promotes keeping a safe distance from gadgets, which lowers the likelihood of myopia. When the smartphone is locked, the data from health apps, including information about mental and visual health, is encrypted, protecting the privacy and security of users’ personal information.
Availability
These updates mentioned above are just a few of watchOS 10’s standout features. Improved contact sharing, offline maps, FaceTime support, medication reminders, and personalised training regimens are other improvements. This autumn, the upgrade will be free for iPhone XS and later with iOS 17 and Apple Watch Series 4 or later.
