Microsoft & Snapchat Collaborate For Teams

Snap Filters Now Available In Teams

The social media app Snapchat has a feature known as Snap Lenses that enables users to edit their images and videos using augmented reality (AR) filters and effects. These lenses track the facial movements of the user with the camera of a smartphone or tablet and then overlay digital objects or animations on their face or surroundings. Now, Microsoft has included them in Teams, its conference program. Let us dive into more details.

Filters & Effects

Simple effects like adding bunny ears or a flower crown to more complex ones that can completely change a user’s look or build a virtual environment around them are available with snap lenses. A collection of lenses made by Snapchat and third-party developers is available to users, and new lenses are frequently introduced to keep the functionality interesting and fun. Snap lenses might appear like a more frivolous function, but it is fun to use for all users.

Microsoft Update

Teams now have access to Snapchat Lenses thanks to a partnership between Microsoft and Snap that gives video conferences a unique flair. Users have a choice of 26 different Lenses, including ones that let them become cartoon characters, have snow, or have virtual surroundings. To keep things fresh, the Lenses library will be periodically updated. Following its success on Microsoft’s Flip video learning platform, Snap’s Camera Kit was utilised to integrate the augmented reality technology into Teams. All users can now access the Lenses by selecting the Video Effects option, which is available.

Availability

Before, Snap Camera, a desktop software from Snapchat, allowed users to use Lenses on outside video calling providers. The app was, however, discontinued earlier this year. Microsoft Teams’ integration of Snapchat Lenses offers a comparable entertaining and creative experience in a context that is more formal. It will be fascinating to see what Microsoft and Snap come up with next as they continue to innovate through this partnership.
