BenQ ZOWIE XL2546K – Gaming Monitor that Takes Cares for your Eyes

We were super excited to get our hands on BenQ’s XL2546K gaming monitor and we’d have to admit that we had quite a lot of fun with this one. So here’s all you need to know about this eye-care focussed gaming monitor.

Design

This stylish monitor sports a medium matte anti-glare screen surface. The XL2546K is an upgraded version of BenQ’s XL2546Z, so we found that its aesthetics remain quite similar to it. This gaming monitor from the XL-K series comes with dark grey matte plastics along with with red satin plastics that we feel add some punk and colour to it and quite enhance its visual appeal. The XL2546K sports reasonably sleek bezels on all its sides, and this certainly adds durability for when gamers are moving this to and from competitions and esports tournaments. An interesting design element on this monitor is the placement of the OSD (On Screen Display) controls – they can be found on the rear side. The ports, AC power input, 3 HDMI 2.0 ports, DP 1.2a and a 3.5mm headphone jack are all facing downwards.

Eye Care Features

We love that the XL2546K is an eye-care focussed gaming monitor! It offers a selection of eye-care features that help protect eye health in these times of highly increased screen-time. There is a range of Low Blue Light (LBL) settings that significantly enhance viewing comfort. It also includes the ‘DyAc+’ (Dynamic Accuracy Plus) strobe backlight setting that considerably minimises perceived blur. It comes with the DyAc+ technology, Black eQualizer, Color Vibrance and all the exclusive features from Zowie that gaming enthusiasts like us have come to expect and appreciate.

Gaming Performance Enhancers

This gaming monitor provides a 1000:1 static contrast ratio alongside 8-bit colour support and offers an impressive flicker-free WLED backlight that allows maximum visibility in a variety of low-light scenarios. It has adjustable wings that work like a detachable shield and helped us maintain focus and avoid distractions in our surroundings. XL2546K comes with a compact stand base which leaves a smaller and narrower footprint on the table that left us with a lot more space for the keyboard to be kept closer to the screen even when we had it titled. The monitor also has a joystick at its bottom right and a few buttons accompanying it in case one desires to use an alternative to the seamless wired S-Switch controller that we prefer to use now.

Panel and Visuals

The XL2546K is a 240Hz gaming monitor that offers an impressive 0.5ms grey to grey response time. What we really appreciated is the TN panel, because we feel that TN panels have their own set of benefits that IPS panels still cannot offer. The XL2546K incorporates a 24.5″ AUO TN panel and provides a 1920 x 1080 (Full HD) resolution with 240Hz refresh rate. Adaptive-Sync is supported on this monitor and another cool thing is that AMD FreeSync Premium is already included with purchase!

Verdict

All in all, BenQ’s XL2546K is a great monitor that was surely able to enhance our gaming experince and we are confident that it will do the same for you.
