DJI Mini 2 SE
The Mini 2 SE is a slightly refreshed version of the original Mini 2, which features a similar design and tough but lightweight body. The body has a foldable design, which allows for the wings and the propellers to fold separately and fit into the body of the drone for safe packaging. The wings are located above and below the drone body, in sets of two, and feature sturdy plastic arms that hold the propellers away from each other during flight.
Flying Experience
The drone offers a smooth flying experience thanks to easy-to-learn controls and an intuitive user interface. The drone itself features lots of safety systems, including two front-facing sensors that help it avoid obstacles automatically. The motors are powerful enough to fly in Level 5 wind resistance conditions and even maintain a steady hover in 10.7 m/s winds.
Camera System
A single camera sensor hangs in front of the DJI drone, off of a three-axis gimbal. It features a solid plastic body and protective glass front, which hides the 1/2.3-inch CMOS sensor that can capture 2.7K video and 12MP still images. Thanks to the gimbal system, you can easily take cinematic shots and long time-lapses, with the body remaining as stable as it can be.
Wireless Transmission
Any footage you capture can be instantly transmitted to your computing devices, from as far as 10kms, thanks to a new in-house OcuSync 2.0 transmission system. This system supports HD quality video transmission, thanks to an ‘Enhanced Wi-Fi’ setup that has a range of up to 4kms. While the company says that the DJI drone can maintain stable feeds at even longer distances, the results may vary depending on your location and local topography.
Battery & Charging
Even with all of these features, the drone can still maintain a flight time of around 31 minutes on a single charge, which is a bit longer than the previous generation model, and certainly quite long for such a compact device. Since the battery is pretty small and weighs quite less, this helps keep the overall weight below 249 grams, so you can use it without obtaining any special license in most countries. Although, the rules may change depending on the region.
Price & Availability
The DJI Mini 2 SE will go on sale next month and will be available from the company site and other e-commerce platforms. It is priced at around $369 for the body itself, while the Fly More Combo bundle comes at $519 and includes additional batteries, replacement propellers, and a carrying case.
