The PS6 is something that every console fan will be anticipating, and Sony fans now have something to be excited about.
The Leaks
The internet has been buzzing with rumours of a new PlayStation 6 (PS6), showing that a hardware designer for the console has been hired, with PS5 lead architect Mark Cerny as the candidate. The PlayStation 5 Pro, as a result, may be axed due to Sony’s limited resources being focused on implementing company partnerships, hardware and software development, and worldwide marketing for the PS6. Furthermore, rumours of a modular PS5 console have surfaced, which could lead Sony to abandon plans for a PS5 Pro or PS5 Slim.
Availability
Sony is unlikely to release the PS6 before 2028, but they cannot afford to put it on hold. With the groundwork for the PS6 already in place, developing a rumoured detachable disc drive model and other PS-exclusive gadgets would allow Sony to release a PS5-like console before moving on to developing a new console that will meet fan expectations.
