Honor 9X Lite – Budget phone with Premium Features

As soon as we heard that Honor was launching a new phone, we had our fingers crossed expecting it to come with Google Mobile Services given the whole Google-Huawei situation that’s been going on for a while now. Our wish came true as Huawei’s mid-range smartphone brand Honor’s 9X Lite does come with Google Mobile Services preinstalled in it running absolutely smoothly. However, it is speculated to be the last phone from Huawei Honor that will be with Google Mobile Services. This makes the phone even more unique; let us dive straight into it!

Display and Design

The Honor 9X Lite smartphone has 6.5-inch IPS LCD black bar notch display similar to that of the iPhone X with a resolution of 1080×2340 pixels and ~396 PPI density. It has a screen to body ratio of ~91%, which makes it a nearly borderless design with only 4.25mm as the width of the bottom border, thus offering a better cinematic experience. The display is engineered with advanced chip-on-film (COF) technology and special antennas for a seamless, HD, full-view screen. When it comes to the body design, the phone has quite a premium finish and gives a glossy glass-like, although it is made of plastic. It offers the protection of Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on the front and fingerprint sensor mounted

at the back. The Honor 9X Lite comes in 2 colour variants Emerald Green and Midnight Black.

PerformanceThis entry-level smartphone runs on Android v9.0 (Pie) OS. With a powerful Octa-core processor, we had a pretty decent gaming experience and faced no lags with games like PUBG Mobile and COD Mobile at its lowest graphical settings. It sports HiSilicon Kirin 710F Chipset with 4 GB RAM and 128 GB internal storage expandable up to 512 GB with an external SD card.

Camera

When it comes to the camera, the Honor 9X Lite packs quite exciting camera features like Digital Zoom, Auto Flash, Face detection, Touch to focus and more. The shots captured on its 48-megapixel Ultra-clarity camera with an f/1.8 aperture were aesthetically impressive covering every last detail alongside a 2-megapixel Depth Assist camera with an f/2.4 aperture. It flaunts a 16-megapixel camera on the front with an f/2.0 aperture for selfies.

Connectivity

Connectivity options on Honor 9X Lite include Wi-Fi 802.11, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, NFC, and FM Radio. Sensors on the phone are proximity, accelerometer, compass, ambient light, and fingerprint sensor. The phone has a dual sim support system in it.

Battery

Huawei’s Honor 9X lite is equipped with a modest 3750mAh battery that only lasted around 11 hours during our battery life test, which is not the best given its many competitors that offer better, bigger batteries. The phone takes about 2 hours and a little more to reach a full charge of 100% with a maximum charging speed of 10W. Nevertheless, it will get your necessary job done decently throughout the da

Verdict

Honor 9X Lite is not the best entry-level smartphone out there, but then it is not worst either. It stands somewhere in the middle with its good aesthetics and decent features – a full HD 1080p screen, good camera, and standard Octa-core processor. If you are a sincere user of Honor phones with Google Mobile Services in them, then this phone will definitely cater to your taste. It falls easy on the pocket too as it’s available for AED 699 only.
