Apple has released performance benchmarks comparing the M2-based MacBook Air 15 with its previous generation Intel-powered models. According to Apple’s claims, the new laptop is roughly twice as fast as a Core i7 15-inch laptop with Intel Xe graphics, delivers 50% longer battery life, and is 12 times faster than a 1.2 GHz quad-core Intel-based MacBook Air. However, Apple has not specified the exact Windows laptop used for comparison.
Seamless Connectivity
In terms of connectivity, the MacBook Air 15 offers two Thunderbolt 3 / USB4 ports, a 3.5 mm headphone jack, and a MagSafe 3 connector for charging. While Wi-Fi 6E is not yet supported, the laptop is compatible with Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3.
A 66.6 WHr Li-Pol battery fuels the MacBook Air 15, providing impressive endurance. Apple claims that the battery allows for up to 18 hours of Apple TV movie playback and 15 hours of Wi-Fi web browsing. The laptop ships with a 35 W dual USB-C power adapter and a 2 m USB-C to MagSafe 3 cable.
Pricing and Availability
The MacBook Air 15 will be available in four attractive colors: Silver, Starlight, Space Gray, and Midnight. Prices for this cutting-edge laptop start at US$1,299. Pre-orders have already commenced, with delivery scheduled to begin on June 13. Additionally, the laptop will receive an update to the latest macOS Sonoma in the Fall.

As part of their commitment, the 15-inch MacBook Air is available at a special price of US$1,199 for the education sector. Moreover, the 13-inch MacBook Air with M2 has also received a price reduction to US$1,099, which can go down further to just US$999 for educational institutions.
