Realme X2 Pro is the young mobile brand’s big step into the premium/mid-range mobile phone segment. Designed and priced to give a tough fight to some popular flagship devices in the segment, the X2 Pro is packed with features that are bound to attract younger audiences in large numbers.
With a full HD+ Super AMOLED 90Hz refresh rate screen, a 64MP quad-camera setup, stereo surround sound speakers, a metal-glass sandwich design, and a massive 4,000mAh battery, the latest device from Realme leaves little to no room for complaints given the price segment it has been introduced in.
X2 Pro variants give off this sophisticated gradient effect which seems to change colour ever so slightly in the light, in a subtle manner that makes this device perfect for all kinds of users – from freshers to corporate biggies. While the device does have some mildly sharp edges, it’s mostly solid in its look and feel and comes with a case that users to put on as soon as they unbox. At 199 grams, it weighs around the same as most of its competitors and sports a USB-C port at the bottom.
The fact that this doesn’t look or perform much differently than a OnePlus 7T, for example, in a number of areas goes on to prove what a phenomenal effort this phone has been on Realme’s part as their debut in the premium segment.
X2 Pro’s screen measures 6.5 inches diagonally while the display uses a Super AMOLED panel with Full HD+ (2400 x 1080 pixels) resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate. The display is certified for HDR10+ playback and supports a 100% DCI-P3 colour gamut range. The screen brightness is rated for 1000 nits maximum brightness and offers good legibility even in sharp sunlight. There are two colour modes for users to choose from, Vivid and Gentle. The Vivid colour mode is based on DCI-P3 colour range while the Gentle mode represents sRGB colours. The screen protector it comes with appears a bit plastic though, making it appear of slight cheaper quality, however, that can easily be replaced with a tempered glass screen guard these days.
Realme X2 Pro is equipped with the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus chipset which is a slightly overclocked version of the 855 chip-set and is powered by an altered GPU for a 15% better performance. The X2 Pro can be configured by up to 12GB RAM and 256GB UFS 3.0 storage, but has no option to expand the storage (even in the lower variants).
With a huge battery, surround sound speakers, a massive, impressive screen and a headphone jack, the Realme X2 Pro is great for all kinds of content consumption. It also comes with HDR support and offers incredible maximum brightness that makes watching videos on public transport a great experience – the large battery ensures that it lasts long.
This phone sports an amazing quad-camera system which delivers a great deal of professional photography features to a phone-photographer. The primary camera on Realme X2 Pro uses a Samsung ISOCELL Bright GW1 64MP sensor with an f/1.8 aperture in a quad-layer arrangement. So basically, photos are produced at 16MP, but the sensor is capable of reproducing images at 64MP when the dedicated ‘64MP’ mode is selected. This mode can take some seriously striking pictures in good light. Images taken from the X2 Pro are colourful and sharp, but some grains can be found around the edges while shooting in the ultra-wide mode. The HDR mode does a splendid job of recovering detail from shadows and the 13MP, f/2.5 aperture telephoto lens performs quite well, too.
All in all, the quad-camera setup of Realme’s X2 Pro can take spectacular images in well-lit conditions and the overall experience can be rated well. For night-time photography though, this phone has little to offer given that it lacks Optical Image Stabilization (OIS).
Realme X2 Pro is powered by a huge 4,000mAh battery that ensures more than a day’s worth of usage. With 50W SuperVOOC fast charging support, it can charge from 0% to 100% in 35 minutes flat. The SuperVOOC fast adapter comes with the phone.
