Design
The CAD-based leaks compare the iPhone 15 Pro Max and iPhone 16 Pro Max / Ultra. In this approach, the size increase for the widely rumoured iPhone 16 Ultra is easily discernible. Although the 6.9-inch screen will be broader than it is taller, the iPhone 15 Pro Max’s width is estimated to be 76.7 mm, while the iPhone 16 Ultra’s width is said to be 77.2 mm. That is pretty much beyond what most people would consider to be comfortable, yet Apple continues to push the envelope.
Build Quality
The iPhone 15 Pro Max measures about 159.8 mm in height, while its replacement will be 165 mm tall. That’s a rather big change, especially for Apple, a business that is often regarded as being quite cautious about such things. In comparison to the iPhone 15 Pro, the smaller iPhone 16 Pro will also expand, but at least it has a valid justification: it will reportedly hold a periscope zoom lens. The iPhone 15 Pro Max already has enough room in its chassis for a periscope zoom lens, so it’s not apparent why the iPhone 16 Pro Max needs to be even bigger.
Availability
We have no doubt that additional information will be revealed in the future because it is still very early in the rumour cycle and the introduction of the iPhone 16 family is still roughly 14 months away.
