Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra Review

A True Flagship Smartphone With Amazing Features

The very anticipated Galaxy S23 series has been finally announced by Samsung. The Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and Galaxy S23 Ultra are the three devices in this lineup. While the S23 is the cheapest and most compact in this series, the S23 Ultra is the most premium and expensive of the lot. Samsung has made significant improvements in a number of areas while making minor adjustments in other areas. The S23 Ultra gives strong competition to the iPhone 14 Pro Max and iPhone 13 Pro Max. It has a one-handed design and a small footprint without significantly sacrificing any functions. Let us take a closer look at it and determine whether it is worth your money.

Design

For the first time ever, Samsung has used recycled material in their phones not only internally but also externally. The S23 Ultra sports an outer body made of 100% recycled metal. Some of the inner components are also made of the same material. The design is crisp and beautiful, right down to the contour cut look for the rear camera array, in which the vertically stacked lenses on the back of the phone are contained in a bump that blends into the device’s side, giving it a very minimal yet stylish look.

The front and rear glass are completely flat, but the sides of the core metal frame are slightly curved, so the phone fits nicely in your palm. There is also an S-Pen which comes along with it, which enhances the experience of using it. At launch, there are four colour choices, including Phantom Black, Green, and two stunning pastel shades of Cream and Lavender.

Display

The Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra may have a similar appearance to last year’s flagship, the Galaxy S22 Ultra, but it offers significant updates. The Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra’s 6.8-inch QHD OLED 2X Display has a 240Hz Touch Sampling Rate in Intense Gaming Mode and an incredibly smooth 120Hz refresh rate.

The S23 Ultra is also designed to be more durable because it is the first phone to include Corning’s Gorilla Glass Victus 2, which is meant to better protect the front and back from dings and scratches. The screen also supports HDR+ content and has a special low blue light certification. It also has a special warm light mode which will not hurt your eyes in the longer run.

Performance

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 CPU, Qualcomm’s most recent flagship chip, powers the Galaxy S23 Ultra. It’s conveniently the fastest mobile CPU in the current array of smartphones in the market, giving it an edge over other flagship models and series, like the Google Pixel phones. It is available in a variety of configurations which are – 12GB RAM with 256GB of storage, 512GB of storage or even a 1TB version. Samsung’s brand-new OneUI 5.1 will be preinstalled on top of Android 13 on the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra out of the box.

The update’s key new features include configurable modes and routines that function similarly to the Focus modes on the iPhone, the ability to use Bixby to reply to incoming calls with a text message, and new customization options to further individualise the interface’s appearance. Additionally, Samsung is providing the Galaxy S23 Ultra with four years of OS updates and five years of security patches, which should comfortably get it through Android 17. When it comes to multi-year pledges, Android manufacturers are getting better, but Samsung’s is among the best.

Cameras

The Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra has Samsung’s greatest cameras ever. The Galaxy S23 Ultra has four cameras: a 200 MP wide-angle camera with an F1.7 aperture, a 12 MP ultra-wide camera with an F2.2 aperture, and two 10 MP telephoto cameras with 3 and 10 times optical zooms. The rear camera arrangement is meant to capture footage in 8K Super HDR at 60 frames per second. For the most beautiful selfies, the S23 Ultra has a 12-megapixel camera with a Super Quad Pixel technology for autofocus.

With the S23 Ultra phone, taking pictures in challenging lighting conditions is really easy and the pictures will definitely turn out well with excellent details and no noise with special imaging technology. The low-light photography and video skills in the S23 Ultra have also significantly increased. The front camera can also record HD videos at 60 fps. Additionally, there are new Expert RAW capabilities, a capability that was initially made available on the S22 series. This enables the user to capture complete 50MP RAW photographs on just the touch of a button.

Battery

The Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra has a 5,000 mAh battery. Through the use of the Snapdragon 8 Gen chip, Samsung has improved the efficiency of this phone. The S23 Ultra will last an impressive 12 hours in Adaptive mode, which can entail continuous web browsing at 150 nits of screen brightness over 5G. The S23 Ultra’s battery might also last an amazing 13 hours at 60Hz mode. It might not be the best, but it is much better than many other flagship models across other reputed brands like Apple or OnePlus.

Is It Worth It?

The Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra is priced at $1,199 and is available for pre-order on its official website of Samsung. It will start shipping on February 17 through all Samsung stores and major retail stores. Even at this high price, there is no doubt that the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra is the best Android phone you can purchase, and it also has a very good case for being the best phone overall. Samsung has definitely raised its game when it comes to low-light capabilities, and the 200MP camera is just fantastic.

The S23 Ultra is the greatest phone from Samsung for gaming, and it’s also incredibly quick thanks to the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Samsung Galaxy processor. Additionally, the battery life is a significant upgrade over the Galaxy S22 Ultra. Overall, it is the absolute best option if you are looking for an option other than the generic iPhones in the market. This flagship smartphone is worth every penny you spend on it.
