Design
The new Redmi Note 12 Series features a sleek and modern design, with a flat back and curved camera bump that sits pretty low on the back compared to the actual camera rings. The Track edition even features special lights around the camera rings, which only further highlights the unique black and green colour theme. Other models include plain but beautiful glossy finishes of white, black and blue shades. The only other standout is the basic Redmi Note 12 Pro, which gets a special pink and purple hanging crystal design.
On the front, you get a truly bezel-less design, with flat glass and minimal hints of curved edges. The centre pinhole camera punch-hole is extremely small and easily hidden with a darker background, which will also highlight the exceptional colour fidelity of the AMOLED panel. We can expect it to support at least 120Hz of refresh rate and up to 1000nits of brightness.
Camera
There is a triple camera array on all the models, with the base model featuring a 50MP Sony IMX766 sensor, along with other generic ultrawide and macro offerings. The Redmi 12 Pro Plus gets a bigger upgrade, up to a 200MP Samsung HPX main camera and the other 50MP sensor. There is no indication if they will include a separate hardware processor for the images like Vivo is doing with its recent models. But we do expect them to add lots of AI-based computational photography to do a lot of the heavy lifting. The bigger sensor should also enable better video, at up to 8K 30fps at least.
Performance
The brand has already confirmed that both models will feature the latest Dimensity 1080 chipsets, which will bring thorough 5G connectivity to the series. It will be paired with up to 16GB of RAM and at least 512GB of storage. The setup will also feature a stereo speaker system with proper tuning for more clarity, even at loud volumes. You even get a 3.5mm audio jack, which is a great addition for old-school audio fans. Lastly, they will even add a side-mounted fingerprint scanner to make it a more secure hardware-based system.
