Design & Build Quality
The MARQ collection was first introduced in 2019, with a handsome and rugged design that featured lots of different colours and straps to pick from. The collection was made up of different models designed to excel in different types of use cases. For example, the Athlete model featured sports-centred features, while the Adventurer model came with an edge-to-edge leather design and a classic compass bezel. The Golfer model had a golf-inspired colour scheme and came preloaded with data about 42,000 golf courses across the world. While the Captain model featured a built-in Regatta Timer meant for sea-faring navigators.
The new models feature the same designations, designs and exceptional build quality, along with lots of new material choices and smart features. One of the biggest changes being that the new watches come with a titanium body, which makes them much lighter and tougher than the outgoing models. Depending on the model in question, they also incorporate new textures and materials like ceramic backs, sapphire crystal glass covers, and jacquard-weave nylon straps. They also feature lots of titanium, leather, and silicon bracelets and straps in different colours to choose from.
Display & Features
The displays themselves feature AMOLED panels, which are protected by sapphire crystal glass. They are scratch-resistant and can offer great visibility even in the roughest lighting and weather conditions. Each model features a high-capacity battery which can power all the smart features and GPS functionalities for up to 16 days.
Speaking of connectivity, all the models feature a host of GPS technologies, including multi-band GNSS, multi-frequency GPS, and Garmin’s own SatIQ technology for superior positioning accuracy. All this comes in addition to a host of health and wellness technologies, such as heart rate monitoring, sleep monitoring, respiration and stress tracking, as well as Body Battery energy monitoring. Garmin is even planning to incorporate a special Jet Lag Adviser on the select models at a later date.
Price & Availability
All these features and more make the updated MARQ collection a must-have for any watch enthusiast looking to enter the realm of smartwatches. The only caveat is that since it is still a luxury collection, the price will remain a stopgap for a lot of people as the models come in the range of $1,900 to $2,400. If you can afford that, the new MARQ smartwatches will be available for sale this month at official Garmin retailers and their own websites.
