Display & Design
The Redmi Note 9 Pro features a stylish, notch-free 6.67” Dot Display. A side-mounted fingerprint sensor makes the device more conveniently accessible, while an all-new front camera module design ensures a premium and immersive user experience. Compared to Redmi Note 9, this does stand on a higher step. Check out our Redmi Note 9 review here.
The first thing we noticed was the camera bump in the center, squared shape – this is the first time they have placed the camera differently. We think it is quite sleek and stylish. Below the camera, you will find an LED flash.
The Redmi Note 9 Pro comes in three different colors – Interstellar Grey, Tropical Green, and Glacier White.
The Redmi Note 9 Pro has a selfie camera placed on top of the display, where you will also find an earpiece grill with an LED indicator. Moving to the bottom edge, there is a USB Type-C port, a 3.5mm audio jack, and the speaker grille. The phone has two micro phones, one on the top and the another on the bottom. On the sides, we have got a power button, volume up/down button, IR blaster and a slot for the SIM card.
The Xiaomi Note 9 Pro is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon, 720G processor – it comes in two variants 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage, and 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage. If that is not enough for some, it can also support a microSD card of up to 512GB.
The Redmi Note 9 Pro runs on the latest MIUI 11 based on the Android 10 operating system. The software runs smoothly and enjoys the new Android experience. It comes with many preinstalled apps, so the need to re-download them or restore them from our backup was considerably reduced. The interface and navigation panel is much better compared to its predecessor in the previous series, the Redmi Note 8 pro. Moreover, the Redmi Note 9 Pro comes with a refresh rate of 90Hz, that helps in a super smooth browsing experience on and in between apps.
Offering an AI Quad Camera system, the Redmi Note 9 Pro is equipped with a 48 mega pixel main camera with 1/2″ sensor size that is able to produce high resolution photos. An 8 mega pixel ultra-wide camera is supported with 118° field of view and 1/4″ sensor size that helped us capture more ground. It has a 2 mega pixel Macro camera that is auto focused at 2cm-10cm with an aperture speed of f/2.4. Lastly, there’s a 2 mega pixel depth camera with 1/5″ sensor size that helps the camera identify the object between two lenses seen as one, just like the human eye does.
The 13 MP front camera comes along with unique features like, panorama selfie, portrait selfies, palm shutter, front camera HDR face recognition, AI silhouette detection, and AI Beautify that seriously up the selfie game.
Featuring a large Non-removable Li-Po 5020 mAh battery that is supported by 18W fast charging and up to 9W (Max) wired reverse charging ability, this device packs a lot of juice.
Undoubtedly, the Redmi Note 9 Pro is currently the fastest mid-range affordable phone in the market. If you can’t decide between Redmi Note 9 and 9 Pro, the only difference is that Xiaomi Note 9 Pro is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G processor built on the latest MIUI 11, and is based on the Android 10 operating system.
