Oppo Reno 6 Pro 5G review

Oppo is well known in the market for coming up with disruptive technology and ingenious design solutions. While their latest smartphone may not boast something that is entirely out of the box, it does provide reasonably decent performance with a premium feel. Read on as we discuss our take on the Oppo Reno 6 Pro 5G.

Starting with what OPPO does best, the camera setup on the Reno 6 Pro 5G stands up to the brand’s legacy. The quad-camera configuration boasts a 64 MP primary camera with 4k recording capability at 30 Frames Per Second, an 8 MP ultra-wide camera and two 2 MP sensors for macro and monochrome photography. It also has a 32 MP front camera capable of full HD 1080p video recording.

An exciting proposition as part of the camera setup is the AI Bokeh Flare feature that blurs the background during video recording, giving them a sharper, more professional look. Of course, it goes without saying that the camera performance is top-notch and a big selling point for this smartphone.

Touch and Feel

Sporting a premium finish with a curved glass display and a sleek glass back that makes the two unique colours (Stellar Black and Aurora) shine bright, quite literally. It is an absolute joy to hold and interact with. The build quality is excellent, and the small details like the power button with a green tinge give it a flagship feel.

Weighing in at just under 180gms, it is surprisingly light, especially considering the fact that it houses a 4500 mAh battery.

The 6.5 inches FHD+ AMOLED display that curves on the edges is perhaps as good as it gets in this price bracket. With a 90Hz refresh rate and 180Hz touch sampling rate, it is a blissful experience to interact with the screen. The brightness available is plentiful, and the curved glass makes the bezels virtually non-existent, giving a truly immersive and awe-inspiring visual experience. In addition, the front camera, carefully tucked away in the top right corner of the screen, does not cause any hindrance and further enhances the premium factor of the display setup.

Battery and Performance

Powered by a Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ 870 5G SoC, it handles pretty much everything that is thrown at it. Even after long sessions of playing top-shelf mobile games which are demanding in terms of graphics and performance, the phone rises to the occasion and does not overheat. 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal storage guarantee a smooth experience without any lags and makes the Reno 6 Pro an offering worth consideration.

The 4500 mAh battery is plentiful for daily operations and considering the fact that it doesn’t weigh the phone down too much makes it an absolute steal.

User Interface

Running the Color OS based on Android 11, it offers a highly friendly user experience with minimal pre-installed apps and a clean UI. The always-on display that comes with the Color OS is easily one of the best available in the market, coupled with unique features like the gaming mode, which disables calls and notifications during your gaming sessions, it delivers a product that is bound to delight anyone who uses it.

If you’re looking for a smartphone with excellent camera quality and top-shelf features at a medium-range price point, the OPPO Reno 6 Pro 5G is the device for you. Though the addition of a few flagship features like better chipset and wireless charging would have been the cherry on top, the latest offering from OPPO is not a disappointment in any sense of the word.

  • Camera Performance
  • Display Quality
  • Lightweight for its specs

  • No wireless charging
  • Should have been with Snapdragon 888+ 5G chipset
