Intel Announces New Hardware For Both Computers & Cars

12th Generation Processors and Mobileye for Automobiles

CES is a place to show off, and Intel took the opportunity to flaunt its latest developments in a variety of fields they offer computing solutions. This included their improvements with Mobileye, progress toward discrete graphics leadership, and the launch of the newest members of the 12th Gen Intel Core family. Each of these in itself offers a world of opportunity for further advancement of the tech ecosystem that surrounds us.

Mobileye for Automobiles

One of the most promising technologies on showcase was Mobileye announcement of a new system-on-chip (SoC) that is purpose-built for autonomous vehicles (AVs). Built on Mobileye’s EyeQ technology, EyeQ Ultra does the work of 10 EyeQ5 SoCs in a single package and was designed to deliver the optimum power performance of a fully self-driving vehicle.

The company also announced two firsts with Geely’s Zeekr brand – a level 4 consumer AV expected to begin production in 2024 and the industry’s first fully capable level 2+ vehicle equipped with a 360-degree surround view sensing system and driving policy.

These systems will be integrated with future vehicles from brands like VW and Ford as well. The CEO of these companies joined Intel at CES to announce their commitment to a driverless future driven by Intel tech.

12th Gen Intel Core H-Series Processors

Everyone expected Intel to announce an update to their Core H-series processors, and they didn’t disappoint with the launch of their new 12th Gen processor series. These new processors are built on the Intel 7nm process node, featuring Intel’s first-ever performance hybrid design. The flagship of this series is the Intel Core i9-12900HK, which claims to deliver up to 40% higher performance for unparalleled gaming experiences and up to 28% faster gameplay than the previous mobile gaming leader in the market, the i9-11980HK.

Intel showcased more than 20 new devices powered by the 12th Gen Intel Core H-series, with more than 100 devices in total expected to launch with partners including Acer, Asus, Dell, HP, Lenovo, MSI, and Razer. In addition, Intel also unveiled a new ultraportable mobile processor – the P-series – to bring enthusiast levels of performance to thin-and-light laptops.

Intel Arc Graphics for the Discrete Graphics Industry

Intel continues to push its ambitions for the discrete graphics industry by announcing the shipment of Intel Arc graphics to OEM customers. Intel Arc graphics is the brand for Intel’s upcoming consumer high-performance graphics product, which is expected to be featured in more than 50 new mobile and desktop customer designs from leading computer manufacturers like Acer, ASUS, Clevo, Dell, Gigabyte, Haier, HP, Lenovo, Samsung, MSI, and NEC.

The Intel Arc graphics is expected to bring industry-leading advanced features such as hardware-accelerated Ray Tracing, Xe Super Sampling (XeSS) AI-driven upscaling technology, and Intel Deep Link technology to the laptop market.

Intel also announced ISV partner momentum with its XeSS AI-driven upscaling technology, which is currently being integrated into many game titles across a range of publishers, including integration into Kojima Production’s Death Stranding Director’s Cut, which also includes core optimizations for 12th Gen Intel Core processors.

More gaming studios are expected to support the technology going forward, including but not limited to 505 Games, Codemasters, EXOR Studios, Fishlabs, Hashbane, IOI, Illfonic, Kojima Productions, Massive Work Studio, PUBG Studios, Techland, Ubisoft, Wonder People, and more.

This will truly usher in a new era of laptop gaming for people who can’t afford dedicated gaming rigs with full-size graphic cards.
