This information was revealed by Ross Young, an analyst working with Display Supply Chain Consultants, a market research firm in the flat panel display industry. They keep an eye on all the orders placed by various technology companies for various types of displays and make predictions based on that.
Mr Young made this latest prediction in reply to a Twitter post about the potential Google foldable device and stated that the panels for the device would start shipping in January, so it might just launch sometime in February or March. According to rumours, the panels in question are OLED displays that will be featured as a 5.8-inch cover screen and a 7.6-inch foldable screen.
Given these potential screen sizes, the Pixel foldable model will feature a design like the Galaxy Z Fold 4 or the Oppo Find N. The device is expected to be called the Pixel Notepad, while its current iteration is codenamed Pipit. Whatever it is finally named, this foldable device is expected to cost less than the latest Samsung model.
The Pixel fold is expected to ship with Google's latest Tensor G2 processor, along with up to 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage. In addition, it is rumoured to feature a Penta-camera setup, with three cameras on the rear panel and one selfie unit on both displays.
The main sensors for the rear unit are expected to be a 64MP Sony IMX787, accompanied by a 12MP Sony IMX386 ultra-wide, and a 10.8MP Samsung S5K3J1 telephoto unit. The same S5K3J1 module is expected to be used for the outer selfie camera, while the inside module will feature an 8MP Sony IMX355 unit.
While none of these rumours has been confirmed by any valid source, we are still inclined to believe them, considering that most of the latest Pixel lineup specifications were also successfully leaked before the recent launch. So, if even half of what has been said is true, then we might just see a truly formidable foldable offering from Google very soon.
