However, unlike the iPhone Mini, which was only around for two model generations, the SE model seems to have still a long way to go. If the latest rumours are to be believed, Apple is gearing up for the launch of the iPhone SE 4, which will take the place of the iPhone Mini in its lineup.
This upcoming 4th generation model will follow the same formula of featuring the latest flagship processor and camera technologies within the body of an older iPhone model. For this particular avatar, speculation suggests that the company will be going for the iPhone XR, which features a more updated design with the first-generation notch and a bigger near-bezel-less LCD display.
Unfortunately, despite the presence of a full-size notch, it seems that the company has no plans to equip this model with its reliable Face ID system. Instead, it seems like they will be going for a more subtle fingerprint reader, which will be featured on the side. There is no confirmation whether it will be located within the power button itself or on a separate button made specifically for the module.
Another area of speculation is the processor itself since the latest iPhone 14 series itself features two different Bionic processors. So, chances are that we might just get the base model A15 processor instead of the flagship A16 Bionic that is featured in the iPhone 14 Pro.
Whatever the final configuration may be, one thing is for sure; the new iPhone SE will certainly come with a price bump. The current model is on sale for around $490, while the upcoming model is expected to cost anywhere between $560 and $700. Only time will tell how many of these rumours actually turn out to be true. So, stay tuned as we keep you updated on all the changes that come up ahead.
