New Upgrades
Apple intends to replace its dated Lightning port with the more popular USB-C port for its next iPhones in order to comply with regulatory changes made for smartphones sold in Europe, America and Asia. The iPhone 15 series phones are rumoured to be the first to include the new charging port. These reports have been confirmed by a leaked photograph that gives us our first glimpse at the iPhone 15 Pro’s chassis, which has a USB-C port.
The Leaks
A leaked photograph, which is focused on the device’s bottom, shows the iPhone with a USB-C port, two exposed screws, and speaker holes. Without the new port, the layout resembles that of the current iPhone 14 Pro. This shows that Apple, as a company, slowly plans to switch from the E75 Lightning Controller to an E85 Port Controller with the adoption of USB-C.
Design
The next iPhone 15 Pro’s USB-C connection is visible, which may also give us a glimpse of the device’s new titanium body. Apple intends to use titanium instead of stainless steel for the iPhone 15 Pro series this year. Meaning that rather than the current glossy stainless-steel appearance, the iPhone 15 Pro might have a matte finish, very similar to that of the famous Apple Watch Ultra.
Availability
There is no concrete news on when the new iPhone 15 will be launched. But going by the release dates of the previous year, it might happen in the latter half of the year, around September or October.
