Eye-catching Design
The HUAWEI P50 Series introduces an instantly recognizable Dual-Matrix Camera design. The individual modules are placed inside the two large camera-shaped cut-outs, which sit pretty flush with the rest of the back. This makes the back design look a lot cleaner, despite the presence of numerous camera modules. This theme continues to the front as well, with a small cutout hiding the front-facing camera.
In terms of the displays, the HUAWEI P50 Pro packs an immersive 6.6-inch 3D curved glass display, while the HUAWEI P50 uses a slightly smaller 6.5-inch display. Both of them support the full P3 wide colour gamut and can render over a billion colours, which is excellent for all types of content consumption. In addition to looking great, you also get a buttery smooth touch experience, with 120Hz refresh rate displays that support a 300Hz touch sampling rate.
Everything else is packed within a body that is still relatively thin and light, despite the bigger battery and screens. The ergonomics have been tweaked to make the phones easy to grip, while the internals is protected thanks to an IP68 certification for dust and water resistance.
Groundbreaking True-Form Dual-Matrix Camera
The HUAWEI P50 Series embodies the latest in Huawei’s own brand of imaging technology. The company has always been focused on delivering the best possible camera experience to its customers, and these new models are no different. Taking this moniker of ‘ultimate camera phones’ seriously, these models feature a True-Form Dual-Matrix Camera system and revolutionary HUAWEI XD Optics.
This is a one-of-a-kind system that includes a powerful main camera matrix and zoom camera matrix that can capture authentic, true-to-life colours with excellent clarity and dynamic range. The telephoto lens on HUAWEI P50 Pro has a maximum zoom range of 200x, while HUAWEI P50 has a zoom range of up to 80x. Both of these phones support 4K video recording across the entire focal range. Along with the addition of an all-new AIS Pro True-Steady Shot system, which helps you shoot stabilized videos, even when zoomed all the way in.
A lot of this is made possible by various software tweaks and AI enhancements powered by Huawei technologies. With the help of HUAWEI XD Optics and HUAWEI XD Fusion Pro, the HUAWEI P50 and HUAWEI P50 Pro can deliver true-to-life colours, super high definition and dynamic range, and preserve fine details in images. Thus, resulting in high-resolution images that are brighter and cleaner than ever before.
On top of that, the True-Chroma Image Engine can further improve photos, thanks to improved ambient light detection and better colour accuracy. With help from the new Super Color Filter System that claims to improve image clarity, even in low-light scenarios.
Upgraded Battery & Performance
All these unique features and components are powered by Qualcomm’s 5nm Snapdragon 888 processor and a minimum of 8GB of RAM. The actual power is delivered by bigger battery modules that have been designed to retain their slim profile despite the extra mass.
The HUAWEI P50 packs a 4100 mAh battery into a compact design with a thickness of 7.92 mm, while the HUAWEI P50 Pro incorporates a 4360 mAh battery into its slim body that only measures 8.5 mm. Both devices support 66W HUAWEI SuperCharge. While the P50 Pro also supports 50W Wireless HUAWEI SuperCharge for quick and effortless wireless charging. As you can guess, all of these components produce a lot of heat when working at peak performance. So, you also get a special 3D Graphene Liquid Cooling System, which helps keep everything manageable.
Software & Support
Along with all these new hardware upgrades, the phones also feature significant software-based improvements. HUAWEI P50 Pro and HUAWEI P50 are powered by EMUI 12, which features an innovative UI with a clean and elegant look. You get lots of small tweaks that make it easier to navigate and control.
For example, controlling multiple devices at once is as easy as controlling just one single device, thanks to the Super Device features. The Device+ tab in Control Panel enables users to easily control or set up multi-device collaboration with other devices, such as the HUAWEI Vision, FreeBuds, MatePad, and MateBook. With the Distributed File System, these phones can also function as a wirelessly connected external storage unit for the PC, meaning you can access the files you want more easily than ever before.
Price and Availability
Even if this is not enough, the company promises to keep updating the software and app ecosystem to deliver the best possible user experience to their customers. Speaking of customers, UAE customers can get the new HUAWEI P50 at a price of AED 2,799. The HUAWEI P50 Pro is not more expensive at AED 3,699.
