Gmail Updates

Google has stated that it will be releasing updated versions of its Workspace product. This update includes enhanced search capabilities in Gmail. The multinational technology company plans to use Gmail users’ search history to enhance the results displayed to users of the email service via the web. They claim that the new update to Gmail search will provide better results by making them more relevant and contextual.

Google Sheets Updates

Sheets enhancements include user-editable pivot tables and new capabilities. A customizable side panel enables users to tailor their pivot table editor experience to their specific needs. This feature will be beneficial whenever a reader needs to view the full name of a field or column. The update enables the sharing of documents, spreadsheets, and presentations with all or selected meeting attendees. This will enable everyone to share their ideas and information throughout the entire meeting.

Google Chrome Updates

Concurrently, Google has released a major update to the Chrome Web Browser that addresses yet another zero-day flaw. As early as 2022, attackers were taking advantage of the critical vulnerability. This GPU heap buffer overflow has been assigned the CVE identifier CVE-2022-413 by Google. This type of buffer overflow attack involves rewriting the heap to exploit a vulnerability in an application.

Clement Lecigne of Google’s Threat Analysis Group discovered and made public the vulnerability on November 22 of this year. The patch was released on November 24 via an official blog post by the tech giant. Google has released Chrome 107.0.5304.121 on the stable channel for Mac and Linux, along with Chrome 107.0.5304.121/.122 for Windows.

Summing Up

To make Google Workspace a more desirable place for business, the company has been pushing the envelope. Users will now have access to improved productivity tools thanks to Google’s recent update to Workspace. Google promises these new features will be available to users within the next 15 days. The reaction of users to this update will be interesting to observe.
