This includes the basic individual and student plans for single people who just want to listen to ad-free music. Then there is the duo plan for couples that share the same account but want to create their own playlists. Finally, there is the family plan where up to 6 people can share the same account, featuring individual and collective playlists, as well as additional parental controls for avoiding explicit content.
Now, it seems like the company is testing the feasibility of an even higher tier of paid subscription, called the Platinum plan, which will feature unique features for users who want the best possible audio experience. This plan was referenced in a recent survey conducted by the company, which floated it at a potential $19.99 monthly price for individual users.
This new tier will see the introduction of previously unheard-of features, such as HIFI audio playback, Studio Sound, Headphone Tuner, Audio Insights, Library Pro, and Playlist Pro. The plan would also remove ad interruptions from not just music playback but also Spotify original podcasts. In addition to all this, rumours are that users might even get access to free audiobooks, which they can download and store on their devices.
This seems to be Spotify's plan to catch up to the growing popularity of Apple and Amazon's own music streaming services, which already feature lossless and high-resolution audio at no extra cost. In fact, the company had already announced that they would be bringing HIFI audio to their platform as early as last year, but so far, we haven't seen the promise materialize into any tangible action. Let us wait and see if this survey accurately marks the coming change.
