App Interface
One of the first changes you will notice is a new app interface for the library, which now lists your entire game collection in a grid-like format, along with the full titles, game cover images, and other relevant information. You can easily search through the collection and even sort it using various filters. This section will also allow you to remotely start or stop game downloads and updates on your PC, as long as you have it powered on and with the Steam account logged in. You will also be able to receive the latest notifications for games on sale, pending friend requests, chat messages, and much more.
App Store
The app store will also feature similar updates to the layout, making it easier to go through app descriptions, available images, and gameplay trailers. It is a completely dynamic experience designed specifically for the mobile layout, so you don't miss out on any details. With this new store, you will also be able to purchase new games, browse for exclusive weapons and skins, as well as keep an eye on upcoming DLCs. There will even be a full-fledged community and news items section, just like you see on the desktop version of the Steam application.
QR Code Login
The new app introduces a special QR code scanning system, allowing you to sign in on any new device without entering your username, password, or even a Steam Guard code. All you have to do is scan the QR code shown on the screen through the app, and it will automatically take you to a confirmation pop-up that will contain all the relevant device information, as well as a map showcasing the geolocation of the device you are trying to log in from. You can then verify that you are the person who is trying to log in using the on-device camera.
If you don't want to use the camera, you can still confirm your login using a traditional Approve or Deny prompt. It will allow you to skip the Steam Guard code process, but you will still have to enter your username and password. Once you are logged in, the app will also show a complete list of all the authorized devices where your Steam account is already logged in. You can then decide whether you want to keep all of the existing logins active or revoke access to some of them with the click of a button.
This system will also be brought to the Steam Deck soon, along with other bug fixes and some unannounced changes to the chat app. The update for the Android version has already been rolled out, while the iOS update will follow soon.
