Design & Build Quality
The body of the watch is pretty company and uniform in accordance with the design theme. Since the main selling point is customization, all the components need to be placed in a tiny but tough body that can be easily swapped with various accessories. This is exactly what you get with the Huawei Watch GT Gyber, as the components are hidden in a slim but solid metal body that features a 1.32-inch circular AMOLED display on top.
Thankfully, all the components are MIL-STD-certified so that they can handle all sorts of adverse elements, such as extreme temperature, moisture, dust, and shock. The watch can even sustain up to 5ATM water resistance for light dives into the ocean. There is even a 292mAh battery included with the package so that you can operate for long periods of time outdoors. The great thing is that the battery can be charged wirelessly for ease of use.
Customisation
You can add to this base package by using different cases and straps that are made from various materials and feature different designs and paint schemes. The cases are available in three main types, i.e. Sports, Fashion and Urban Explorer. Each case type features multiple colours, and the unique detachable design allows you to easily switch between them to create colours and patterns.
The company has not revealed the number of accessories that will be on offer or the price at which they will be available. We can expect at least a dozen or more options, with chances for more new designs coming in the future. Since the detachable design is standardized across all models, some enthusiasts can even come up with their own special edition designs to 3D print.
Smart Features
Equally important to the aesthetic of the watch is the software experience that powers it. You get a variety of wallpapers and widgets that you can set on the small but bright AMOLED display that comes with a resolution of 466 x 466 pixels. There are hundreds of themes to pick from and even more customization options further in.
The operating system itself is an OpenHarmony-based software, which comes with over 100 sports modes built-in to help keep track of your activities. You also get various health monitoring systems, such as sleep tracking, heart rate monitoring, blood oxygen level monitoring, stress monitoring, menstrual cycle tracking, and much more.
In addition to the basic music playback, Bluetooth Calling, and voice control features, the watch also has built-in GPS to guide you through the open wilderness and NFC for contactless payments in urban environments. Even though the operating system is tied to HarmonyOS, you can still connect it to all types of Android and iOS devices.
